NAFO Publications

On these pages provide quick access to all NAFO publications. They are organized by NAFO bodies to which the publications pertain. The 2010 price list is available.

Basic NAFO publications that are updated irregularly as needed are the NAFO Convention, the Rules of Procedure and Finance Regulations, the NAFO Resolutions, the NAFO Staff Rules, and the NAFO booklet.

NAFO also regularly publishes the annual Meeting Proceedings of General Council and Fisheries Commission, and Scientific Council Reports. Other annual publications are the NAFO Conservation and Enforcement Measures, the scientfic research and summary documents (SCR and SCS), the Compliance Report, and the Annual Report. Historical meeting documents are being digitized in the NAFO Secretariat and will be uploaded as they become available.

General Council and Fisheries Comission documents are included in the Meeting Proceedings and are not listed separately here. Sometimes, particular NAFO documents play an important role in the adoption of new measures or forward looking discussions (e.g. Precautionary Approach, NAFO Reform, etc.). In such cases, users will find links to individual documents in the Annual Report and in relevant sections of these webpages.

The NAFO Journal of Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Science provides an international forum for the primary publication of original research papers, with emphasis on environmental, biological, ecological and fishery aspects of the living marine resources and ecosystems.

In addition, NAFO irregularly publishes the Scientific Council Studies that contain review papers of topical interest and importance. In 2009 a Coral Identification Guide was published to help those on-board commercial and research fishing vessels to identify and record the various species of coral likely to be commonly encountered in fishing trawls.

NAFO has published a monograph entitled "Early Stages of Fishes in the Western North Atlantic Ocean" by M. P. Fahay.
