Since 1997 the Scientific Council has dedicated considerable resources towards the development of a framework for implementing the Precautionary Approach (PA). This Workshop was tasked with developing reference points for data-rich stocks, based on results from Analytical Models. For data-limited stocks, proxy reference points will be developed based on survey data using methodology developed to address proxy reference points. As well more precise definitions of terms and concepts should be developed. A
report from this meeting is now available (pdf, 967 kb). This topic will continue to be discussed within NAFO.
